Technique N.03 — Linen Wallpaper

Alkantarus – Linen Wallpaper Effect

Alkantarus is a professional decorative paint that recreates the look of linen wallpaper: a subtle woven texture inspired by natural linen cloth. The dense, hard-wearing structure gives walls a refined, textile character, and paired with the Alkantarus colour palette it takes on real depth.

Application tips

To make application easier, divide the wall into vertical strips up to approx. 50 cm wide using WASHI masking tape (you can see this in the video).

Decorative grass-comb trowel
  1. Tape the full height of the wall to mark out a working strip up to half a metre wide. A laser level makes this easy: project the beam onto the wall and run the tape exactly along it.
  2. Apply the first coat with horizontal strokes.
  3. Leave 6–8 hours before the next coat.
  4. Apply the second coat with vertical strokes to create the characteristic woven texture.
  5. When the strip is finished, peel off the tape and join the next section wet-on-wet to the paint you have just applied, for an even, seamless finish.
